‘Fulmar’ is a Trapper 300 26-foot / 8 metre quarter tonner, dual purpose cruiser/racer designed by Bruce Kirby for Trapper Yachts and built in Pool Dorset in 1980.
The Trapper 300 is quick, points well, and punches well above its weight for a 26-footer. It is highly regarded for its excellent handling and competitive club racing performance, due to its responsive fin keel and spade rudder design.
Under the same ownership since 1993, Fulmar has mainly been used for local club racing in Kinsale. It comes with a substantial sail wardrobe, including a crisp, lightly used racing set. Below deck, the interior is in its original teak layout and has been functionally maintained for racing.
Being of solid construction and seaworthy design, this boat is suitable for club racing but also for cruising in coastal waters by either experienced or new sailors. It is light on the hem and responsive with a wide beam and very flared topsides, so it powers well upwind with weight on the rail, but has enough ballast to be sailed shorthanded too.
