Aven is an excellent example of this classic cruising yacht designed and built for Camper and Nicholson, Gosport, Hants. A company constructing vessels for over two hundred years.
Yachting Monthly describes the Nicholson 35 was designed to take almost any adverse weather and sea conditions in her stride. Her overhanging, deep-vee bow section means she parts the waves resolutely, with little or no drama or spray.
Her hull number is 136 and built in 1977. Only about 230 were built over their long production run with minor alterations over the years from MK 1 to MK VII versions. She is presently hard standing in Kinsale Boatyard Limited in Kinsale. Located twenty minutes from Cork airport serving many airlines including Ryanair, Kinsale is easily accessible.
She is named after the river Aven in Brittany by her previous owner in which she has had only four owners in total. A new Beta Marine 35 diesel engine with ZFV drive gearbox, shaft, propeller, coupling was installed summer 2021. This blue water cruiser will be enjoyed for many more years to come.

The 35's were produced in an age when boatbuilders were still unsure of the attributes of GRP so they laid in on heavy. Around the keel she is at least 38mm (1 1/2 inch) thick and elsewhere never less than 10 mm. Her ballast is encapsulated within the keel moulding along with the water tank so there are no keel bolts to worry about.

The mast was changed to a New Proctor furled in mast 2003 keel stepped.
